Artistry with Robotics: A Companion for Traditional Arts

Immediate scope will produce Kolam / Rangoli on the floor.

In the future, there will be an expansion of this frameworks.  This will facilitate development of more assistants. Which will be  capable of doing traditional arts and to play games. Such as playing Goli Kundu / Pallanguli or stone carving.

The device will operate by executing commands derived from artistic templates. These execution components will be stored in the cloud and will adhere to instructions provided by a mobile device

Expanding the capacity to generate specialized artistic skills. The innovative development of templates, with the ability to create them on a large scale, will enable broader accessibility to a wider audience.

Showcase technical proficiency in IoT, AI, and mobile technology

A suite of software components and hardware, including motors, belts, and holders, will enable drawing capabilities

The platform will enable creation of templates and instructions, which are stored in the cloud. A mobile app will interact with these resources to generate desired art

Kolam Art Companion – Concept document 

  • The purpose is to build a device to create traditional artwork like “Kolam”.
  • This attempt is to bring traditional feel with an artwork which is being made specially for each festive occasion.
  • Drawing and seeing a kolam made by a handy tool could be a joy, which also saves effort and time.
  • A repeatable work that can be executed by a bot can fill up the demand gap on specialized skill set.
  • This can also help in deployment of the art works in a large scale.

  • Moving mechanical parts category consists of dispensers to drop rice flour, DC motors to move the structures like rods and wheels to move the structure around and other operational items.
  • Boards and Controllers group contains the single board computer like Arduino, Rasberry PI, steppers etc., The G-Code (geometric) will be the language to instruct the necessary behaviours.
  • Mobile & Cloud infrastructure class contains the necessary data stores , controls and monitor items.
  • Software components group consists of the art instructions, mobile app to communicate for triggering and controlling and other integration components.
